In order to prevent falsification by chips, the sensor surface should be wiped or blown briefly before each measurement. However, especially with large CNC machines, the tool length sensor is often difficult to reach by hand. The cleaning nozzle solves the problem in a very elegant way.
The nozzle is mounted on the grooved plate together with the tool length sensor and supplied with compressed air via either a manual valve or an electric pneumatic valve and a release button. The operation can therefore be done conveniently from the front of the machine or elsewhere besides. The air then flows out of the annular gap at the upper end directly onto the sensor surface and safely blows chips and other disruptive particles to the side.
If the cleaning process is to be automated, this requires a separate control output and a corresponding programming change.
